I thought that The Flight Of the Conchords was clever because the way they make the programme seem like a documentary, as if we were watching a day in the life of the Flight of the Conchords in the streets of New York. The characters randomly burst into song like people would in a musical and it transforms from a documentary style into a music video. For example Murry, the band manager, is upset when Jessica, tech support, no longer works at the office and bursts in song about her ” Leggy Blonde”. Making Flight of the Conchords a documentary style comedy makes it seem real, but with the random music video moments of song added to it makes very funny especially if you haven’t seen this programme before.
The originality of this comedy programme with the mix of a documantary has given sit com a breath of fresh air. I think this is what sit com needs to bring it back to life!
